Hayes & Yeading United are finally returning to the borough.

The club will host Hendon on Friday evening at the SkyEx Community Stadium in Beaconsfield Road in a pre-season friendly.

It will be the first time the club has played back in Hayes since the sale of their Church Road home five years ago.

After their departure, The club began a groundshare with Woking and remained in residence at Kingfield before spending the last two seasons at Maidenhead’s York Road.

A club statement read: “Whilst there still remains a lot of work to do at the ground, Hayes & Yeading United are delighted to announce that permission has been granted by the local authority to play our friendly against Hendon on Friday at the SKYex Community Stadium, kick-off 19:30.

“It has been such a long time since we left the borough but we are finally coming home and massive credit for this must go to Chairman Tony O'Driscoll and his fellow Directors.”

The statement did not clarify whether the club is clear to begin fulfilling competitive league fixtures as the new season in the Southern League starts next month.

First up for United is a trip to Frome Town on Saturday week.
