With that in mind we've taken a look at some examples of Fulham's most exciting contests over the years.

Birmingham City 3-4 Fulham - 18th August 1979

The season may have ended in relegation, but the opening day victory showed that Fulham weren't going anywhere without a fight.

Birmingham looked comfortable after taking a three-goal lead into the half-time break, but a hat-trick from Gordon Davies and a Chris Guthrie effort handed the Cottagers the victory.

Britain's first heart transplant patient, Fulham fan Keith Castle went into the operating theatre at half-time of this clash, when he came round and found out that Fulham had won he allegedly told the doctors "Now you know why I'm in here!".

Portsmouth 4-4 Fulham - 1st Janauary 1985

Fulham battled the elements as they fought back from 4-0 down to secure a point in Hampshire.

Dean Coney struck to make it 4-1 after 74 minutes before three goals by Leroy Rosenior, Gary Barnett and Kevin Lock brought the game level.

Fulham 5-2 Newcastle - 21st January 2012

A stunning game which saw Fulham battle from behind to secure an emphatic win.

Despite going behind early on, Danny Murphy scored a penalty to peg Newcastle back.

Two goals from Clint Dempsey and one from Bobby Zamora made it 4-1 before Hatem Ben Arfa looked to give the visitors some hope.

However a third goal from Dempsey secured a thrilling win for the Whites at the Cottage.

Arsenal 3-3 Fulham - 10th November 2012

The Cottagers feared the worst at the Emirates when Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski put the hosts 2-0 up after 23 minutes, before Dimitar Berbatov and Alexander Kacaiklic ensured Fulham went in level at the break.

Berbatov gave the visitors a surprise lead from the penalty spot before Giroud clawed the result back for the Gunners.

Sheffield United 4-5 Fulham - 21st November 2017

The clash at Bramall had absolutely everything as Fulham twisted and turned to a victory in south Yorkshire.

Hat-tricks from wonderkid Ryan Sessegnon and former-QPR striker Leon Clarke set the game on it's way, leaving the fans gasping for breath by the time the final whistle went.
