RAYNERS LANE secured their first win and points of the season with a deserved 3-0 win over Eton Wick to lift off the foot of the FTL Futbol Hellenic Division One East.

The introduction of two 18-year-olds, Keron Thomas and Dominic Frankling, made a huge difference to Lane's attacking play while moving Tyrone Henry to the centre of defence shored things up at the back.

Playing at a quicker pace and pressing the opposition meant the Lane managed to dominate the attacking play in the first half. Paul McGovern, playing in the centre of midfield, hit two shots from long range that went wide and Ian Jimmy should have made contact from a good cross from the right.

Eton goalkeeper, Howard, pulled off several saves and did well to deny

Darren Gardiner's close range effort. However, he was finally beaten in the 37th minute when Thomas set up Gardiner and he placed his left foot shot into the far corner.

The Lane doubled their lead at the start of the second half when Thomas pulled the ball back for Jamie Hurst on the edge of the penalty area and his low drive skidded into the corner of the goal. Frankling and Gardiner then went close with good shots and Richard Barker had his effort cleared off the line.

Ian Jimmy made a goal saving tackle from a rare Eton Wick attack and then went close at the other end with a far post header.

The hosts wrapped up victory when McGovern fired home an 88th minute penalty after Kian Siabi was hauled down by Howard.
