CHELSEA have rubbished reports that Fernando Torres will be sold when the transfer window reopens next month.

The Spaniard has scored just five goals in 35 appearances for the Blues since his £50million switch from Liverpool in January, leading to suggestions he could be offloaded in a cut-price deal in the new year.

However, Chelsea have today insisted that Torres still has a future at Stamford Bridge .

A club spokesman said: “The story is total nonsense. Fernando is in the long-term plans at Chelsea.”

With Nicolas Anelka set to join Shanghai Shenhua next month, and Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou away at the Africa Cup of Nations, Andre Villas-Boas will be short of options up front.

However, the Blues boss is expected to add more firepower to the squad in the transfer window.
