Ii was a real family affair as Hanworth Villa Vets won the Chiswick & District Sunday League Riverside Junior Cup final on Sunday.

Two of the Villa players, keeper Alex Brown and midfielder Sam Proctor, are sons of players who have won the trophy before with the same club – Dave Brown and Steve Proctor.

Another Villa player, Harry Andrews, is the son of one of the linesmen, Paul Andrews, who drinks in the Jolly Coopers – the Hampton based pub which provided Villa's opponents!

Goals from Gary Jenkins and Pat Madigan won the day for Villa, who had already wrapped up the Division Two title to make it a second league and cup double for manager Spencer Wilmott.

Gaffer: Lee Stevenson, who is also Villa's first team manager, takes on Jolly Coopers

With Wilmott having also won the trophy with Sawyers Arms and Feltham Railway Club – two of the clubs who merged with Villa two decades ago – he is surely the most successful manager in the Riverside Junior Cup's history.

Villa's first team also tasted glory on Wednesday night when they won the Southern Combination Cup, winning 1-0 at Spelthorne Sports in the final to inflict a first defeat of the season on their opponents.

The Villains will be looking to make it a cup double when they face Spelthorne again, this time in the Combined Counties League Premier Challenge Cup final, at Carshalton Athletic FC on Saturday (3pm).

The following day, Hanworth Villa Sunday will be looking to make up for the disappointment of their recent Chiswick & District Sunday League Premier Division Cup final defeat to Shire United when they take on Barnes Eagles Seniors in the Riverside Trophy final at Bedfont & Feltham FC (3pm).
