DAVID Stephens is looking forward to getting reacquainted with Ipswich Town on Saturday.
The Barnet defender knows the Suffolk side well after a short stint as a youth team player with the club’s arch-rivals Norwich City.
And the 21-year-old Hertfordshire man is looking forward to grasping the opportunity to finally take on a senior Ipswich Town side at last.
“I’m really excited about the game,” he said.
“I never had the opportunity to play in a first team derby but I played in a few youth team ones.
“I suppose it will be a bit weird playing them but I’m really looking forward to it.”
Stephens explained the East Anglian derby is a fiercely contested affair and believes the game against Ipswich will be a good test of Barnet’s credentials.
“The rivalry is massive,” he said.
“For the derby games Norwich get around 26,000 fans and Ipswich get maybe little a bit more than that. It’s an intense rivalry that is really good to be a part of.”
“It’s good to pit your wits against players like so that you can really test yourself, and as a team we can test the way we want to play as well.
“It’ll be good to try and test that out against them, because they are a very good team.”
