Harrow Borough 0 Heybridge Swifts 0
David Howell has backed his Harrow side to come good after they failed to find the net for the second game running on Tuesday night.
Despite the Earlsmead stalemate Borough boss Howell took plenty of positives from the Ryman Premier result, which was in stark contrast to Saturday's 4-0 reversal at Dover.
"I was pleased with the clean sheet and that we played better overall for 90 minutes, but we should have won," said Howell. "We had slight-ly more possession and created more chances while in the second half. Even the most staunch Heybridge fan will admit we dominated. We looked a lot stronger than we did on Saturday."
Howell was particularly pleased with the contribution of young left-back Simon Dahl, who was the victim of a street attack last Friday.
"He was a bit light-headed on Saturday but he wanted to play again on Tuesday and showed
he is made of stern stuff," added the Borough boss. "He goes about his business in an effective and efficient manner and has settled in well."
Goalkeeper Andre Baptiste was called into action early on against the Swifts before Darren Grieves was thwarted by a fine save at the other end. Thereafter, clear cut chances were at a premium but Howell is pleased his side are creating chances ahead of a tough Bank Holiday weekend.
Borough host Carshalton Athletic on Saturday and travel to Staines Town on Monday (both 3pm).
"Carshalton have invested heavily and will be a tough test for us," commented Howell. "Staines are also one of the favourites. We then go to Ramsgate, who are tipped to do well, so the next three games will show us what sort of season lies ahead for us.
"I will look to use the entire squad in the next two games and that will be useful for senior
guys like Darren Grieves and Jamie Lawrence, who are in need of a few matches. On Tuesday they showed how important they would be for us once they got a few more games under their belts."
