AN HISTORIC week for Bedfont Green saw both their first team and reserves sitting top of their respective leagues.

Their first team are five points clear at the top of the Combined Counties Premier, despite being held 1-1 by Banstead Athletic on Saturday.

Promotion rivals Epsom & Ewell were also held to a stalemate, by Molesey, then saw their Tuesday night game with Camberley abandoned, with Camberley winning 2-1.

Green's reserves, meanwhile, are also top if the Suburban League North Division, despite being held 1-1 by Beaconsfield SYCOB last weekend.

Carl McLusky was Green's goal hero against Banstead, wriggling free of his marker before firing them into the lead in the 17th minute.

But they had to make do with a share of the spoils when former Ashford midfielder Wes Goggin headed past the fit-again Lee Pearce to make level matters with 20 minutes left.

Jon-Barrie Bates had the best chance to win it for Green from the penalty spot with 10 minutes remaining after McLusky had been brought down, but fluffed his lines.

Green visit Ash United on Saturday and host Raynes Park Vale on Tuesday night.

* MICK TURTLE will be on another revenge mission on Saturday.

His Bedfont side, unbeaten in six games, host Colliers Wood United - having put one bogey side to bed with Tuesday night's 1-0 win at Wembley.

Turtle said: "I was pleased with the win at Wembley as I haven't beaten them yet and they hammered us last year.

"We owe Colliers Wood as well as they beat us 9-1 last year."

An 89th-minute own-goal was enough for a win at Wembley, which moved Bedfont up to 12th in the Combined Counties Premier.

That followed a 3-0 win at Cobham on Saturday, courtesy of a Luke Craig brace and a Romero Pinto strike.
