A frustrated Neal Ardley claimed referee Trevor Kettle cost AFC Wimbledon victory over promotion chasing Wycombe this afternoon.

Dons preserved their impressive recent home record in an absorbing goalless draw, but boss Ardley insisted Craig Tanner's disallowed effort shortly after half-time should have stood.

He was also incensed Adebayo Akinfenwa, penalised for a push in the lead up to the 'goal,' was not later awarded what he termed a 'blatant' penalty.

For Ardley the game summed up a standard of officiating this season he termed 'the worst yet,' in League Two.

He said: "The foul on Adebayo was the most stonewall penalty you will ever see. It was so much a penalty it is unbelievable.

"I've been in to see the referee and told him in a nice way it was the worst decision he will ever make. He has said he will have a look at it but how he does not give a penalty I don't know.

"Ade gets there and puts the ball past the guy who goes to ground and scythes him up in the air.

"Then the goal he disallows, you could watch Ade and Aaron Pierre fighting for the ball and not know who was fouling who. Ade was just stronger wins the ball, we score and the referee gives a free-kick.

"Both decisions are wrong and it is disappointing because this season more than ever I feel the standard of refereeing has been at its worst and I will bring it up in the football league meeting at the beginning of next season."

Aside from those incidents, Ardley reflected, not for the first time, his side had lacked the game management to deal with the Chairboys' stalling tactics.

Dons created all the clear chances, leaving their keeper James Shea a vitual spectator, but were frustated by the visitors badgering of referee Kettle at every opportunity.

"They did the same to us at their place, going down every time Adebayo touches them, he added. "It is a game they play and the ref got sucked into it.

"You want to let the game flow and it doesn't when someone moans every time a free-kick is given.

"Shea never had a save to make where we have had eight attempts at goal. We were the better team as we were against Oxford and in the second half against Northampton, but we have not got the know-how.

"There is plenty of effort and endeavour though so I hope the fans feel there have been a lot of positives even though we have not managed to get the wins we perhaps should have."
