Clayton Donaldson wants to stay at Brentford, Bees boss Mark Warburton has revealed.

This season's top scorer, who passed the 50-goal landmark for the Bees this campaign, is out of contract this summer.

The 30 year old resumed talks with the club a couple of weeks ago, and Warburton hopes they come to a conclusion soon.

He said: “Talks with Clayton have been ongoing all season. He has said all along that he's 30 now and he wants to be in the Championship – and he wants to be there with Brentford.

“I spoke to Clayton again this week, and he said he's happy and he wants to stay. We're hoping it will be resolved soon.

“Frank McParland will speak to his agent and is beavering away as he will be all summer – much to the disgust of his wife!”
