SHAUN Derry insists everyone has a point to prove at QPR under new boss Mark Hughes .

Sparky has promised his players a clean slate, and put a block on anyone leaving Loftus Road while he assesses his squad.

His arrival has handed a lifeline to the likes of Akos Buzsaky , who was a bit-part player under Neil Warnock but has started the last three games under Hughes.

And Derry says no one is guaranteed a starting spot by the Welshman.

He said: “Everyone has a point to prove. He has incorporated all of the players in training, and it seems to be that we are judged on what he sees out there.

“Look at Akos Buzsaky, who didn't play that much under the new manager, but has come in and was our hero on Saturday [against Wigan].”

Derry expressed sympathy to axed managed Warnock, who brought him to W12, but believes Hughes is the right man to keep them in the Premier League.

“I have been at clubs where it has happened before and it's always sad to see a manager go,” he added.

“The Premier League is such a brutal place. The amount of the money the owners have put into the club for new players and wages means it's vital we stay in this division.

“Mark Hughes has got great calibre and his record speaks for itself. There's been a phenomenal reaction [to his appointment].”
