DEMBA Ba is determined to prove his worth to Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

The Senegalese striker has scored six goals in 23 games for the Blues after arriving from Newcastle United in January.

But Ba has featured just once since the Special One returned to Stamford Bridge in the summer and was linked with a loan move back to Newcastle during the transfer window.

However, the 28-year-old stayed at Stamford Bridge and will get a rare chance to impress Mourinho in the Champions League clash against Basel tomorrow night.

And Ba is desperate to show his new manager what he can do.

He said: "I want to play. It all depends on me and the performance I put in on the pitch. If I don't perform, it will be only my fault.

"Every game, we want to win. It doesn't add more pressure. I know I haven't played as good as when I was in Newcastle or West Ham, but I needed time to settle.

"I keep working hard and believe the reward is behind the work.

"I told the manager if I stayed I would keep fighting for the club. Now it's about the next months and years with Chelsea."
