John Arne Riise hopes Martin Jol's sacking can give him a Fulham lifeline.
The former Liverpool full-back has started just two league games this season and looked to be on his way out of Craven Cottage in January after being deemed surplus to requirements by Jol.
However, the 33-year-old hopes Jol's dismissal will give him another chance under new boss Rene Meulensteen.
He told TV2: "It will be an exciting week.
"We have struggled defensively in the last few matches, now I will give everything in training as usual and hope to get more confidence.
"I feel that I am in good shape and I am ready in case the new manager wants me to play."
