Dean Smith has decided on who his captain is this season, but won't reveal it until naming the team on Saturday at Aston Villa.
Brentford have not had a permanent skipper since Harlee Dean had the armband taken off him ahead of his deadline day eve move to Birmingham.
He said: “I have made a decision. It will be one who starts on Saturday. I've been a captain at every club I've played for.
“We've got characters who can take up the leadership duty. We have our own leadership group in the squad which the players voted for themselves.
"Whichever player I choose will accept it with open hands.”
The Brentford captaincy can be the kiss of death with the last three skippers leaving the club after that season in Tony Craig, Jake Bidwell and now Dean.
For Smith, that's just part and parcel of football.
He added: “It's happened before and it will happen again. Jake Bidwell was captain before he left for QPR.
“Harlee then got the armband. I knew there was a contract situation and his representatives were looking to get away from the club I didn't think it'd be right for him to be captain."
