Josh Clarke has been absent from recent Brentford squads due to an injury he picked up against Norwich.

The Bees full back was one of the Bees' better performers at Carrow Road as they were beaten 5-0 by the Canaries.

But he picked up a calf injury during that defeat and, although he returned to training ahead of the game with Burton, it was not in time to be selected.

And head coach Dean Smith revealed that, due to recent team performances, the youngster, who has two goals so far this season, was not restored to the squad.

He said: “Josh Clarke has not been selected in the squad for the last few games.

“He got injured at Norwich and didn't train until the Friday before the Burton game and we'd named the team and the squad and then the team did well. It's difficult to leave somebody else out.”

Clarke is fully fit and eligible for selection as Brentford look to attain revenge for the December 3 defeat against Norwich on New Year's Eve.
