Dean Smith admitted it was a tough choice to make changes for Brentford's 1-1 draw with Reading.

The head coach had made two unforced changes with Kamo Mokotjo replacing Nico Yennaris and Andreas Bjelland coming in for Yoann Barbet.

Florian Jozefzoon replaced the injured Henrik Dalsgaard with Josh Clarke moving to right back.

Smith explained: “It's tough leaving two lads out who have played well. Henrik obviously had to come out and Josh Clarke was fantastic at right back and took the game to them.

“Yoann hasn't done too much wrong. He's cramped up in the last couple of games. Andreas did well and didn't let us down.

Josh Clarke celebrates his goal

“The midfield area is where we're quite strong and I can put fresh legs in there. I thought Kamo did well.

“I had a chance to bring two players off and two players on in Nico and Josh McEachran. They're always tough decisions.”

Clarke, who Smith described as a polyfilla player ahead of the game, won man of the match with the head coach singing his praises after the game.

He explained: “From the first week back in pre-season he's looked sharp. He's frustrated as he's not had as much playing time as he'd like.

“We know he can play wide right, right back and on the left. He's working hard at his game and getting better. That was as a performance I've seen from him at right back.”
