Dean Smith views Brentford's game with Bolton as just another game, despite both sides yet to claim their first win this season.

Some have speculated that a defeat for the Bees at the Macron Stadium could spell the end for Smith, although GetWestLondon understands the Bees head coach is not under pressure for his job at the current time.

But he is not viewing the contest as a do or die clash and insisted that the players remain as determined as ever to leave Lancashire with all three points.

He said: “I want the win every game. It's difficult to say just because you haven't got the win yet. I want the win in every game and we go into every game trying to win.

“There'll be no let up on that. The determination has been fierce from the players and that's why Tuesday night was such a surprise.

“We had less of a pool to choose from but probably made the same amount of changes. We've had three players leave so the pool was smaller.

“That determination is the same as the first game of the season.”

The game with Bolton has extra significance with Brentford facing Derby and Middlesbrough before the international break but the Bees boss is relishing the challenge.

He added: “It's a great week. It depends how you want to look at it. We've come from a week where we've played Aston Villa, Sheffield Wednesday and Reading and arguably deserved nine points and that's no different now.

“It's one we're all looking forward to. The players are performing to a good level but they're very determined to get the wins.”

Norwich was the first time that Smith and Brentford have come in for flak this season and defeat at Bolton will see the calls for his head grow louder.

“If the performance is no good and we come back with nothing, it doesn't change anything. If we get the win, we come back with three points. The only thing on this game is three points,” Smith added.

“There's no givens in this game. Bolton will do what we will. It was a massive disappointment we didn't beat Aston Villa, Sheffield Wednesday and Reading.”
