QPR midfielder Massimo Luongo is likely to have a busy summer next year as Australia secured their place in the 2018 World Cup.

The 25-year-old was an unused substitute for the 3-1 victory over Honduras in Sydney, but put in a man of the match display in the first leg.

The Socceroos dominated the first half in the Australian capital with 78 percent possession, before a Mile Jedinak hat-trick in the second half guided them to victory.

Alberth Elis got a consolation goal for Honduras, but it's the Socceroos who will be preparing for the showpiece event in Russia next year.

If selected, it'll be the second World Cup of Luongo's career, having been an unused substitute in Brazil in 2014.
