Christophe Berra is still holding out for a £3m move to Fulham.

The Hearts defender has been linked with the Whites as a potential replacement for Brede Hangeland should the giant Norwegian be sold during the last 12 days of the transfer window.

Fulham have had Berra watched a number of times at recent matches, and the 23-year-old is also a reported target for Everton.

But time is running out for any deal, and the Scottish international is hoping he hasn't been entirely forgotten in SW6.

He said: "I am ambitious and I want to play at as high a level as possible.

"Every player would love to play in the English Premiership and I am no different, but whether that will happen now or later I don't know.

"It is not down to me because it's money that talks. If somebody comes in and makes a good offer I'm sure Hearts will let me go."

But Berra looks set to be disappointed, because although he is on Fulham boss Roy Hodgson's radar, the Whites will only put plan B into operation should there be movement for Hangeland.

An insider said: "Hodgson knows all about Berra, but he's cool on any deal unless he has to find replacements."
