Former QPR head coach Chris Ramsey has broken his silence regarding his ambitions in the game, saying ‘he’s fortunate to be working in football’.

Ramsey enjoyed a spell in charge of the Hoops in 2015, but has now taken on the role of technical director at Loftus Road, and says he sees himself primarily as a coach.

Speaking to GetWestLondon, he said: “Before I took charge of the first team I was coaching the under-9s the day before so it’s about coaching capability.

Fingers crossed: Chris Ramsey

“I consider myself to be a coach that can coach any level and any player, so that’s me as a holistic, rounded coach that allows me to be able to work up and down the age groups.

“I’ll coach anyone put in front of me and I’ve shown I’m capable of doing that, so it’s not a career change."

Ramsey was keen to show his appreciation that he’s able to do a job that he loves, and says he’s keen to simply enjoy his role.

He said: “Getting a job in football and being In football is the main thing that you want to be. I’m coming up to my 40 season, so staying in the game is very important.

“To be able to realise how fortunate you are, to be at an age where you’ve got a job in football with a club like QPR, with the good times that are ahead with the staff and the owners, it’s important to grab onto it and enjoy it rather than looking back and saying ‘I was a first team manager’, who’s to say I’m not going to be a first team manager again in the future?

“I’m just really enjoying what I’m doing now.”
