CHELSEA duo John Terry and Frank Lampard will not be fit to face West Ham tomorrow.

Terry has been telling the Chelsea training staff that he is ready to return, while Lampard is always desperate to feature against his former club.

But Blues boss Rafa Benitez insists he will not have either talisman in his squad when it makes the trip across London to Upton Park.

He said: “Frank took part in our training session today (Friday) while John is working hard with the physio, but neither are ready for this game.

“John is desperate to be involved. He has been telling been telling the medical staff he is ready, but him saying he is ready and him actually being ready are two different things. John has been pushing to play, but it is too soon.

“Players with their character and leadership can be helpful when things are going wrong. They want to be involved and want to help, but you cannot put them in a position where they can get another injury.

“But John has so far been exactly what I expect from a captain. I was walking behind him to the pitches today, he didn't know I was there, but he was talking with three young players, being friendly and shaking their hands, which is what you want to see.”
