Chelsea's debut goalscorer Pedro doesn't need any advice about how to play in England because he has proved it all in his own glittering career, according to new team-mate Cesar Azpilicueta.

Players, such as former Arsenal man Jose Antonio Reyes and ex Manchester United striker Diego Forlan, have thrived in Spain's La Liga but have struggled in the more physical Premier League.

The Spanish forward, who had a stunning debut as Blues yesterday beat West Brom at The Hawthorns, might find opponents have a little more of a sting in their tail than in La Liga as they try and stop him, but his club and international team-mate does not believe he needs any assistance.

“He doesn't need any advice,” insisted Azpilicueta, who himself found the net as Chelsea won 3-2.

“He has won the World Cup, the European Championships and three Champions Leagues. He has all the experience.

“Of course there are a few details about playing in England, there are a few differences like the pace and how the opposition always push until the end, especially when they are losing.

“There is not much to say to him, honestly. He scores goals, he does everything!”

Azpilicueta was clearly delighted to link-up with Pedro in a team than now has a very Spanish feel – along with Cesc Fabregas and adopted Spaniard Diego Costa.

“I know him very well and knew he would fit very well in the team,” said the full back.

“I know his ambition, he is hungry to help the team and to get trophies. But to start like that in his first game is amazing.

“I know him from the national team and he is a top player. He played for Barcelona for many years and he will fit into the Premier League and our team. He knows a few of the players already and I think he is going to do a really good job.”

Asked if he could get even better than in a debut where he walked off comfortably with man of the match awards, Azpilicueta said of Pedro: “Yes he will. He has only trained with us for one week.

“He has just played his first Premier League game and has already scored. So I'm sure he will get better.”
