Nathaniel Chalobah's dreams came true as he finally made his Chelsea debut in their 4-2 EFL Cup win over Leicester.

The 21-year-old signed a professional deal four years ago and has since had six loan moves to Watford, Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough, Burnley, Reading and Napoli.

He has also made 88 appearances for England junior sides but he finally made his first appearance for his club at Leicester.

He replaced Michy Batshuayi with 10 minutes of normal time remaining, playing 40 minutes including extra time as the 2015 winners progressed at the expense of last season's Premier League Champions.

“I’m over the moon, it’s something I’ve dreamt about since I came to the club and I’m very happy that it’s finally happened,’ Chalobah told Chelsea TV.

“The manager just said for me to concentrate on the pitch, make sure I’m switched on and do the defensive work because at the time it was 2-2.”

Chalobah praised the spirit of the side after we fought back from 2-0 down to progress to the fourth round of the competition.

“The tempo changed when they had a man sent off but it was a very quick game to come into,” he said.

“Both teams were really going for the win but after they had a man sent off we were in total control. It was difficult coming from two goals down but the boys were resilient and we stuck in there to get the result.”
