Fernando Torres will not be risked against Newcastle United tomorrow, but could feature in the midweek game at West Brom.

The Spaniard is on the mend after suffering a ligament injury against Man United last month, but Saturday's match is too soon for him.

“Torres is almost there, but not quite. We don't risk,” said boss Jose Mourinho.

“If it was last game of the season, I would say let's go, let's do it, but its not the time to lose players,  so no risk. Tuesday is a much better possibility.

“We have a couple of little things we have to assess before the game, but the only injurries are to Nando [Torres] and [Marco] van Ginkel. After that, it's just little things we have to decide.”

Chelsea will be looking to avenge a defeat at St James' Park in the reverse fixture and Mourinho is happy that Yohan Cabaye will not be there for the Magpies.

“I would be a hypocrite to say losing a player like Cabaye is not a problem for Alan [Pardew, United's boss],” Mourinho said.

“If I lost a player, my club could react, but for Alan, they couldn't give him a player to replace one of the best midfield players in the Premier League.

“But they are a good team, with good players and they know they can beat us because they did a few months ago and Alan is a good coach."
