JOHN Terry will return to the Blues defence to face Everton on Saturday in a game which Carlo Ancelotti says is his side’s "most important" of the season.

The Chelsea skipper will take the place of Alex in central defence after the Brazilian underwent knee surgery this week and now faces a spell on the sidelines.

Blues boss Ancelotti confirmed Terry would start Saturday’s game and revealed he had put his players under pressure to end their run of one win in five games.

Ancelotti said: "John Terry is able to play and he trained well this week with no problems. Alex had surgery on his knee and needs six to eight weeks recovery time.

"Tomorrow will perhaps be our most important game of the season. I have put pressure on the players to win because everything was wrong. We lost a lot of games and now we have to close that period."

Michael Essien is likely to replace Ramires in midfield while Frank Lampard will remain an absentee for another week.

Ancelotti added: "Essien is back from suspension and I think our midfield could be Essien, Malouda and Mikel.

"Lampard is not available but this could be the last week out for him - it is important that he plays a part in the next game with Tottenham."
