Chelsea remain confident Eden Hazard will sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge.

The playmaker’s current deal doesn’t expire until 2017 but the Blues are ready to make him one of their top earners with fresh terms.

Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid have been admirers of the 23-year-old in the past and the Stamford Bridge hierarchy are keen to keep him in SW6.

Pointing the way forward: Chelsea's Eden Hazard

Hazard has been in talks with the club since September and Chelsea are understood to be preparing a five-year deal worth around £200,000 a week.

Jose Mourinho had expected to have the deal done by October but as we enter December nothing has been signed by the skillful Belgian.

His international team-mate Thibaut Courtois put pen to paper on a new long-term agreement in September and Oscar followed suit last month.

Reward: Oscar agreed fresh terms in November

Blues boss Mourinho is steadfast in his belief that Hazard will join the duo and become part of what looks like becoming one of Chelsea’s greatest ever teams.

Mourinho said: “You look at the age of the players... Drogba and John over 30. After that, below 30. Ivanovic is at that limit. All the other guys are very young.

“If they're happy to be here, like Oscar is showing with a new contract, like Eden is showing: he will sign a new contract sooner or later. They can basically be the Chelsea team for the next few years.”

Building for the future: Chelsea's Thibaut Courtois

Skipper John Terry will celebrate turning 34 on Sunday but is still a key member of the Chelsea squad as they look to continue their unbeaten run at home to Spurs tomorrow.

Terry is out of contract in the summer but Mourinho is relaxed over his skipper’s expiring deal and says both the player and board have been made aware of his feelings.

“Don't worry,” Mourinho added. “Don't worry with his contract, because he's not worried. We are not worried. The board has to know before you.”

Deal expiring: Chelsea's John Terry is out of contract next year

Terry has formed arguably the strongest defensive partnership in the Premier League alongside England regular Gary Cahill.

He was granted a one-year extension at Stamford Bridge in the summer while pals Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard were allowed to leave the club.
