Chelsea cannot sit back and let Manchester City dominate them when they visit Eastlands, says Branislav Ivanovic.

The Blues have a tantalising double-header against Manuel Pellegrini's side, with trips to the sky blue half of Manchester a week today in the Premier League, and then less than fortnight later in the FA Cup following Sunday's fourth round win against Stoke City.

With boss Jose Mourinho clear that City are 'smashing' sides at home, Ivanovic says it is not enough to simply sit back and try to contain them.

“Manchester City are playing great football, especially at home,” said the full-back.

“It’s going to be a big challenge for us, but we know what we have to do to stop them.

“It’s important we play as a team, to be on top of our game and show more than we do normally to be successful.

“We go with the same aim and with good performances from everyone. They must feel pressure.

“When you know a big game is coming up and you know you’re playing at home and must win, it’s a different kind of feeling and preparation for the game. We must use that (against them).”
