Here’s our reflections on a mismatch at The Bridge as Chelsea plunder 3-0.

Gunners tailored-made for Blues

With nine points between the sides at kick-off the onus was on Arsenal to make the running.

This played to Chelsea counter-attacking strengths and meant one the hosts were in front they could sit in and then spring forward at pace.

Blue wave: Eden Hazard and his mates celebrate 2-0

Width proves key for the Blues

Marcos Alonso’s goal came from a cross from the right – a header which saw Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin off with concussion in the aftermath.

His replacement Gabriel was frequently absent AWOL as Alonso and Eden Hazard enjoyed the freedom of Stamford Bridge down the left flank.

The mercurial David Luiz

His impudent and brilliant free-kick against Liverpool on Tuesday was one thing, but today the Brazilian international showed he can marshal a defensive line. His composed performance rendered Alexis Sanchez peripheral for long periods.

Clincher: Eden Hazard makes it 2-0

Hazard magic turns lights out on Arsenal’s title tilt

The Belgian flagged up Arsenal as one of two threats to Chelsea’s title pretensions prior to the clash, but his second half solo stunner means there is now 12 points between the sides with 14 games left. Decisive?

Kante on course for a second successive Premiership winner’s medal

A winner with Leicester last season, Kante illustrated why he has been vital to Chelsea’s resurgence, bringing that pressing game which saw him steal the ball high up the pitch and spark so many counter-attacks.

Gap: And Diego Costa makes for it ahead of Shkodran Mustafi

The match...

Eden Hazard’s latest classic saw Chelsea take another huge stride towards the Premiership title at the expense of challengers Arsenal.

The Belgian, so disappointed to have been taken off by the time Diego Costa’s penalty was missed against Liverpool on Tuesday, left an indelible mark on this contest with a magical goal on 53 minutes.

He shrugged off Francis Coquelin’s foul before leaving first Laurent Koscieny and then Shkodran Mustafi floundering as he weaved through to score the goal which could come to be seen as the title clincher.

His stunner added to Marcos Alonso’s 13th minute header, the wingback heading in after Costa’s effort had crashed off the bar.

Cesc Fabregas added a third in a late cameo before Olivier Giroud’s stoppage time header which barely registered as a consolation.
