Chelsea’s summer signing Pedro moved to Stamford Bridge because his career was in danger of stagnating at Barcelona.

The 28-year-old Spaniard swapped the Nou Camp for the Bridge for £21million last month having won everything with the Catalan giants.

But Barcelona’s star trio of Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Neymar had nailed down spots in the first-team leaving Pedro to play a bit-part role in recent triumphs.

Jose Mourinho offered him an escape route to the Premier League and the World Cup winner felt he needed a fresh challenge in England.

Pedro said: "It would have been easy to stay at Barca, appear in the team photo, keep winning titles and earning money.

“I had a good life but I felt I should leave. My life was comfortable off the pitch, but I wanted to keep playing. Let's see how it works out.

“And the possibility of living in London was a privilege. Although I'm having a hard time finding a house. I hope next week I will have it resolved."

Mourinho has had his share of bad blood with Barcelona during his time with Chelsea and Real Madrid and had a fiery relationship with Pedro’s old boss Pep Guardiola.

Guardiola, like Mourinho is regarded as one of the world’s finest coaches, and the Blues recruit reckons the two managers do have similar traits despite their apparent dislike for one another.

He added: "For the intensity of workouts, they are similar. They do not allow the intensity level to be lowered for one minute.

"The truth is that one has an image of him (Mourinho) that when you know him, changes a lot. It's not what it seems.

"I like the way Mourinho works. I feel comfortable. He has a positive and winning mentality. I am delighted because I like nothing better than winning."
