Oscar believes his first ever full pre-season with Chelsea can help him reignite his Blues career.

The Brazilian playmaker is one of 23 players Jose Mourinho has called up for a tour of North America this summer as the team hopped across the pond earlier this week.

Incredibly, this will be the No 10’s first taste of close-season preparations with the club despite moving from Internacional in his homeland three years ago.

Oscar’s last three summers have been spent at Olympic Games, Confederations Cup and World Cup and boss Mourinho highlighted this point back in May as the player struggled to overcome exhaustion.

An injury saw him ruled out of the end of the title-winning campaign and also saw him miss out on joining fellow Samba stars Willian and Filipe Luis amid rumours Juventus were chasing his signature.

However, the 23-year-old was included in Chelsea’s promotional shoot for their new kit launch to dampen those rumours and is looking forward to reaping the benefits of a proper break.

“This is the first time I have started pre-season and for me this is very, very important,” Oscar told the club’s website in Canada.

“It is important to stay with the family and friends and the full holiday for me this time is very important because for five years I didn’t have that holiday.

“In the last three years I played more than 200 games and this is a lot.

“I want to play better and I want to score more goals and to play my best football, because I know my quality and I know for sure I can make this season better than last season.

“And last season was a good season because we were champions and won two competitions.

“I want to be champion in more competitions this season.”

Chelsea are currently in Montreal on a training camp under the watchful eye of the Special One.

They are set to play New York Red Bulls, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona on the trip, before a Community Shield meeting with FA Cup winners Arsenal.

One final friendly against Fiorentina at Stamford Bridge follows before the big Premier League kick-off with Swansea City.
