CHELSEA players have been mixing up their training sessions with handball and basketball to take their minds off the team's dip in form.

Jose Mourinho has revealed he wants to keep his players light-hearted by avoiding a sense of routine – seeing it as the best way to freshen up minds ahead of Fulham's visit tomorrow.

“Instead of tactical work, and set pieces and have everything clear and automatic for tomorrow, I did a funny session,” Mourinho said. “We played handball, basketball. We played the goalkeepers together. I make a funny session when everybody was laughing.

“I think that’s what was important at the time. It’s not to massacre the players with pure working situations when mentally you are not happy enough for that.

“I think it was a good session for them and the only way I know is to work hard and keep the spirit high and make the players understand the situation.”
