Cesc Fabregas has warned Chelsea’s Premier League rivals they are not about to take their foot off the gas.

The Blues lead the way in the English top flight and are a full six points clear of second-placed Manchester City.

Jose Mourinho’s side resume their quest to claim the crown on Saturday evening as Stoke City come to Stamford Bridge.

With a healthy lead at the summit, as well as a game in hand on the chasing pack, many already believe the title race is over this season.

Fabregas is away on international duty with Spain this week but his thoughts never drift far from west London as we approach the final stages of the campaign.

He said: “I'm going through a time in my life where I enjoy everything I do.

“I'm playing almost every minute of every match [with Chelsea] and that's what makes me happy.

“To matter in the game is fundamental. Now we have to fight hard to win the Premier League and make this season a great year.

“We still have the chance to win the double [Capital One Cup and Premier League], and for that reason we cannot relax for a moment.”

Fabregas was an unused substitute for Spain’s Euro 2016 qualifier with the Ukraine on Friday but hopes to be back in the side for tonight’s friendly with the Netherlands.

He added: “You always want to play. When the coach reveals the line-up, I always think I’ve got my place there.

“When I'm not starting a match, I always think that I can come on later on, and when that doesn’t happen, well then I want to get as fast as possible to the next training.

“It’s a young team that has yet to mature and gain more experience, but this what you do when you keep playing matches together and get to know each other better.

“I’m sure these players will bring a lot of joy to the fans.”
