Guus Hiddink and John Terry still believe a top-four finish is possible after Chelsea claimed the London derby bragging rights over Arsenal.

The Blues manager remains unbeaten in his second stint at the helm and had Diego Costa to thank for grabbing the winner in a commanding performance at the Emirates.

Chelsea’s task was made more straightforward when Per Mertesacker was dismissed for a careless lunge on Costa and the champions held firm to survive a second-half surge from the home side.

Hiddink was pleased with the professional job carried out by his players and still believes the Blues could yet close the 14-point gap on Tottenham before the season is out.

He said: “It’s a gap but if you see results in the Premier League, you see how competitive all teams are whether down at the bottom or high in the ranking.

“If you see yesterday’s games like Norwich and Liverpool, it’s unpredictable until the dying seconds. All teams can beat everyone. If the captain says that then I stand with the captain.”

Blues skipper Terry is also staying hopeful of sneaking into the Champions League qualification spots come May.

The centre-half was pleased with a clean sheet and the three points at the Emirates and has urged his team-mates to keep the faith.

He said: “Anything is doable. Everybody is beating everybody else.

"It is a tough league and if we put a run together we have a good chance (of fourth). We will fight until there are no points to play for.”

Chelsea take a break from Premier League action next weekend when they turn their attention to the FA Cup and a fourth-round date with MK Dons.
