ALEX'S move to QPR has been put on hold due to the Brazilian defender's wage demands.

Rangers have agreed a fee with Chelsea for the centre-back, who is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.

New boss Mark Hughes revealed the club held positive talks with the defender on Monday, and was hopeful of completing a move for the 29-year-old.

However, the Chronicle understands Alex's £60k-a-week wages are the stumbling block in the deal, and there are doubts whether the transfer will be wrapped up in time for Saturday's relegation six-pointer with Wigan at Loftus Road .
