RAFAEL Benitez has welcomed Chelsea fans support for their team – but claims he is immune to their chants against him.

The Blues 'interim' manager (pic) bore the brunt of banners and boos in today's 1-0 win over West Brom, though for the most part fans supported players and coaches.

"Before you ask about the crowd and their reaction, I will say that I was really pleased with the fans behind the team.

"The players played with more confidence. It was clear it was positive," Benitez said.

Asked how he felt about fans vocalising their criticism of him, he added: "They were behind the team. The main thing is that the fans were behind the team."

One particularly vocal chant was for former Stamford Bridge hero and Benitez nemesis, Jose Mourinho.

Asked about this, Benitez deflected his reply with: "I was really pleased with Demba Ba."

Benitez was likewise tight-lipped when asked if he met Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich since Wednesday's outspoken press conference at Middlesbrough.

His single response was: "That is my business."
