CHELSEA boss Andre Villas-Boas insists he's got other irons in the fire in case he fails to close out a deal for Bolton defender Gary Cahill .

With Alex expected to leave in the January transfer window, Villas-Boas has made a centre-half his number one priority, with England international Cahill top of his list.

But the Stamford Bridge chief insists the 26-year-old is not his only target, with Porto star Alvaro Pereira also on his radar.

He said: "Regarding what we are trying to do in central defence, we are trying to close a deal [for Gary Cahill] but I don't think we will do much more than that, maybe one more player.

"Central defence is our number one priority and we will try to solve it as soon as possible. We had initial talks with Bolton but that doesn't mean he is our only target."
