Jose Mourinho was happy as far as one can tell to claim a 2-1 win over QPR - but was less pleased with home fans and of all things - the man who switches on the floodlights at Stamford Bridge.

It used to be that Arsenal's home was the Highbury library, such was the silence. Now the Blues boss reckons SW6 has turned into a mausoleum despite claiming another three points.

He said: "I think the (floodlight) man was in the same mood as the crowd, because everyone was sleeping.

"So it took 20 minutes to understand it was dark. But it took 30 minutes for me to understand the stadium was not empty. When we scored  it was ‘oh, the stadium is full, so good’.

"Everyone knows how much I feel connected to this club and the fans,” he said. “At this moment it’s difficult for us to play at home though, because playing here is like playing in an empty stadium.

Hazard is fouled by Vargas for the decisive penalty

“The team then starts playing like it’s a quiet, soft game at home. It’s difficult to get that strong start where the players, team and fans at Stamford Bridge [are all together].

“I was today looking around and it was empty, but not in terms of people because it was obviously full. That’s what frustrating.”

Nevertheless, a sublime curler from Oscar and a penalty from Eden Hazard settle the match despite a cheeky back-heel from Charlie Austin that briefly brought Rs back into the contest.
