Brentford striker Charlie MacDonald has won the League Two February Powerade Player of the Month Award.

MacDonald was among the goals once again in February, netting five times in six games to take him to the top of the League Two scoring charts with 18 goals.

He began the month in impressive style by scoring a hat-trick in his side's home win over Chester City.

The former Southend forward followed this up with decisive strikes in the Bees' victories over both Port Vale and Rochdale.

MacDonald beat Bury's Efe Sodjey, Michael Twiss of Morecambe and Rotherham United's Andy Warrington to the award.

Former Bee Chris Kamara, chairman of the Powerade Player of the Month Awards panel, said: "Charlie MacDonald has been the most consistent goal-scorer in League Two this season.

"His all-round game has really improved, and his five goals in six games in February underlines just how important he is to Andy Scott's side in their quest for automatic promotion this season."
