Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has been ruled out for eight to 10 weeks after undergoing shoulder surgery.
The experienced shot-stopper dislocated his shoulder in the Blues’ Champions League semi-final first leg tie at Atletico Madrid.
Cech has since gone under the knife and the surgery was successful. It is expected he will return in time for pre-season.
Mark Schwarzer has stepped into the breach in the absence of the Czech international and will continue in goal for Sunday’s final game at Cardiff.
Cech’s position as Chelsea’s number one goalkeeper has come under threat this season as Thibaut Courtois’ stock continues to rise in Madrid.
The Belgian helped put his parent club out of the Champions League and Cech’s injury increases the likelihood Mourinho will end his three-year stay in Spain this summer.
