Canada is celebrating it's 150th birthday today (July 1) and QPR assistant manager Marc Bircham has been toasting his adopted country.

The defender, who was born in Wembley, was eligible to play for Les Rouges as one of his grandparents was born in Winnipeg, and made his debut against Northern Ireland.

He also scored his first, and only, international goal in his first appearance as you can see below.

This came during Bircham's time at Millwall, where he spent the first six years of his career, scoring three goals in 104 league appearances.

Bircham moved to QPR in 2002 and became a fan favourite, while sporting blue hair because of his love for the club.

He made 152 league appearances for Rangers before joining Yeovil in 2007, hanging up his boots in 2009.

Young winger Michael Petrasso was called up by Les Rouges for their Concacaf Gold Cup campaign this summer.
