CHELSEA will relish the League Cup fifth round trip to Leeds because of the history between the clubs, says Gary Cahill.

The Blues famously beat The Whites after a replay in the 1970 FA Cup final, and fans have enjoyed a boisterous relationship over the last decades.

However, it will be present-day personnel at the Elland Road club that is likely to lead to a stoking of pre-match tensions, with manager Neil Warnock this week accusing Chelsea of 'trying to kill' Mark Clattenburg.

Then there is the small matter of present Leeds owner, one Kenneth William Bates.

“Its going back home in a way,” said Yorkshire-born Cahill. “I obviously know a lot about Leeds, being not to far away.

“Its going to be a great fixture – I know there's a bit of atmosphere between the two clubs, so it'll be set up for a nice game.”
