karleigh Osborne insists he's got no regrets about his decision to leave Brentford as he prepares to face his former club tonight.

The defender came through the ranks at Griffin Park and went on to make 185 appearances for the Bees after making his debut as a teenager against Hull back in 2005.

Osborne left the club two years ago to sign for Championship outfit Millwall, but he was restricted to just 14 league starts at the Den and joined Bristol City on a permanent basis in January following a successful loan spell.

The struggling Robins take on a Brentford side who are flying high at the top of League One, but Osborne insists he has no bad feelings over his exit.

He said: "I wanted to play in the Championship, so I'm still glad I decided to take the challenge at Millwall.

"Everyone assumes I was being greedy, which wasn't the case. I wanted to test myself at a higher level.

"People may see my move to Bristol City as a step backwards, but it's a big club who should be up in the promotion places.

"It may be a drop down in level in terms of opposition, but I need to be playing regular football again."

Fond memories: Karleigh Osborne says winning the League Two title in 2009 was a highlight

Osborne insists he has fond memories of his time in west London, including winning the League Two title under Andy Scott in 2009.

However, he admits sentiment will go out of the window when he crosses the white line this evening.

"I had a great time at Brentford and I'm happy to see them doing well," added the 25-year-old.

"But I'm a Bristol City player now and I'll be doing my best to try and get a result.

"I'm not sure what kind of reception I'll get, but I'm sure there will be some banter flying about.

"I didn't leave on bad terms. I'm ambitious and the opportunity to play in the Championship was too good to turn down."
