New Brighton manager Chris Hughton today spoke of his admiration for Mark Warburton’s achievements with Brentford ahead of Saurday’s clash at the AMEX.

When asked if he was motivated by fellow English managers like Warburton and Bournemouth’s Eddie Howe, Hughton said their performance was “admirable.”

This comes just a few weeks after Hughton, who finished his playing days with the Bees, spoke admiringly of Brenford's style of play following Brighton's FA Cup win at Griffin Park.

Hughton added: “I’m always inspired by teams and managers that are doing very well, and Brentford are having a really good season.”

But he Seagulls boss also played down any psychological advantage his side may have after their cup victory two weeks ago.

He said: “For as many advantages we have, they have the same. We have to be wary about giving them the freedom of the pitch.”

Veteran right back Inigo Calderon was also cautious about the prospect of home advantage against a team that have taken numerous scalps this season, not least away at Nottingham Forest and Cardiff City.

Calderon said: “We know each other well now. They like to play football and I don’t think that will change just because they are playing away.”
