There will be a familiar face in the Brighton & Hove Albion line-up when Fulham trot out at Falmer Stadium on Saturday.

Darren Bent, who scored just three goals 24 games while on loan at the Cottage last term, joined the Seagull’s on a month-long stint from Aston Villa this week.

The striker has attracted transfer fees totalling £47 million in his career and been capped by England 13 times and is looking to rediscover his shooting boots on the south coast.

Albion reporter at the Brighton Argus, Brian Owen, says there is a real buzz around the city ahead of the on-loan Villa man’s first outing for his new team this weekend.

Owen said: “He’s ex-Fulham so I’m sure their fans know all about him. There’s a fair bit of excitement about him signing around the club because he’s just what the club are in need of, they’ve been crying out for a goalscorer, and it will be his debut on a month’s loan.”

Brighton manager Sami Hyypia is partial to a dip in the loan market and Owen’s second pick for our Brighton three to watch is another player the former Liverpool man has borrowed.

Owen added: “My second pick would have to be another loan player, Elliott Bennett, who is here from Norwich City. He’s a former Brighton favourite, an exciting winger, and he’s back on a month’s loan.

“Elliott played a couple of home games and helped the team pick up four points, he played really well, but the next game was against his parent club so he couldn’t take part. He’ll come back into the team.”

Bent will be relying on good service from the Brighton flanks and the third Seagulls player tipped to cause problems charging forward from the back at will.

Owen concluded: “The final pick would be Bruno, a right-back, who previously played from Valencia. He’s been injured recently but is back now and has got two goals in his last two games.

"He's very good on the ball, he’s one of these full-backs who likes to push on.”
