Sergi Canos knows how important pre-season is as he looks to prepare for his first full season at Brentford.

The Spaniard, who rejoined the Bees from Norwich in January after a loan spell in the 2015/16 season, has been working on improving his strength over the summer and he and the squad have been hard at work on their training camp in France.

And Canos knows that this is the area the Bees must get right if they are to have a successful campaign.

He said: “Every week is important and all the hard work we are doing is important for the season. This is the base of the season and we have to get it right.”

Reece Cole celebrates his fine goal

Canos has been outlining his aims for the season but he is not going to make them public just yet.

He added: “I prefer to keep my targets to myself and hopefully I can make them but I don't want to show them just in case I don't make them.”

Canos also knows that he must be on his best form as the Bees have talented youngsters in their B team, as proven in last week's pre-season friendly at Aldershot.

The Spaniard explained: “He's on fire. He's been on fire with two great goals. I'm really happy for him and the young players that played and they did really well. I'm really happy for them.”
