No return date has yet to be pencilled in for Brentford full back Rico Henry as he steps up his return from shoulder surgery.

The Bees made the 19-year-old their most expensive teenager when they signed him on transfer deadline day.

Henry, though, needed shoulder surgery and is yet to make his debut for the club but, while he is close to returning to action, Dean Smith wants him to play for the B team first.

He said: “We don't have a game pencilled in. We'll get him through a couple of B team games before he plays for the first team.”

With Henry and Leicester loanee Callum Elder returning from injury, Smith could have three options at left back with Tom Field impressing in the role in recent games.

“I'd have like one of them in October and November,” the head coach quipped.

“They will have to compete. Rico can play higher up as well. They can all play at wing back. Callum can play as a left sided centre half so it will give us options.”
