Brentford head coach Lee Carsley believes the QPR fans' hostility towards Chris Ramsey is unfair as the two go head to head at Griffin Park this evening.

The Rangers fans have been calling for the 53-year-old to leave the club after a difficult period following Harry Redknapp's resignation.

And Carsley is full of admiration for his counterpart, who he shares a mutual affinity for given their histories in coaching the youth and academy sides.

He said: “I think it is unfair. I've not seen much of QPR but I know how good a coach Chris Ramsey is.

“I know how committed he is. He's done his apprenticeship. He needs a bit of luck. Hopefully he'll get that after Friday.

“He's someone I respect a lot. I've learnt more from him by watching his team play. I don't drink but he's welcome to a glass of wine after the game.”

Carsley has settled into the role of Brentford head coach more and more but did admit it was uncomfortable being seen put in place after Marinus Dijkhuizen's sacking and didn't want to be seen gloating.

He added: “In terms of feeling uncomfortable, I should have felt like that as someone had been sacked and I was preparing for a development squad. I wasn't waiting around the corner for someone to get sacked so I could jump in.

“We had a day before Birmingham and two days before Derby so what impact could I have had. We then had the international break.

“In terms of being comfortable, it's a role I can do. In terms of dealing with pressure, I've been dealing with that since I was 16, 17 and your whole week based around on what happens on Saturday.

“My family are used to it as well. We either have a great Saturday night or I'm sat in silence watching a game on my laptop.

“I've always felt comfortable but I felt uncomfortable early doors because I didn't want to be seen celebrating someone else's misfortune.”
