Brentford are interested in signing Danish international Andreas Bjelland from FC Twente.

The 26-year-old made 29 appearances for the Dutch club last season and has played 65 times in total since signing from F.C. Nordsjælland in the summer of 2012.

Bjelland, who plays as a central defender but can also cover at full back and in central midfield, has also featured regularly for the Danish national team, featuring 21 times while scoring two goals.

New head coach Marinus Dijkhuizen will know Bjelland well from his time at Excelsior after the Dane featured for FC Twente in their 3-1 loss to Dijkhuizen’s side in February.

However, the Bees face competition for his signature after his agent confirmed that talks are underway with a number of clubs from England and France.
