Rasmus Ankersen believes Brentford have a chance to upset Chelsea in their FA Cup tie at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The Bees make the short trip across London for the tie against the Premier League leaders.

The Blues are expected to name a much-changed XI as they have a daunting trip to Liverpool on Tuesday night but, whatever side Antonio Conte puts out, Ankersen believes Brentford can spring a surprise.

Ankersen said: “It's a great thing for the club to come together around a game like that. I think we have a chance.

“We've played well this month so far and we were unlucky against Newcastle and that's happened a few times at home this season. I feel we should have more points than we have but that's football.”

Brentford received an unbudgeted windfall after they drew Chelsea in the FA Cup fourth round and Ankersen believes that tie will assist in their aims.

He said: “It's not going to have a massive impact but everything helps. We're a small club that has to be smart in the way we do deals.

“We've got to look at players who can make a difference now but also have a resale potential for us.”
