Scott Hogan played down talk of a Republic of Ireland call up after blasting a hat-trick in Brentford's 5-0 demolition of Preston.

The Bees striker has 13 goals in 15 Championship games since returning from two anterior cruciate ligament injuries.

And Ireland fans have been calling on Martin O'Neill, who was present at Griffin Park on Saturday, to call up Hogan.

But the striker is purely focused on performing for Brentford because of the way the club look after him.

He said: “I know we don't go back on it but I have been out injured but it's important to be playing as many games for Brentford at the moment.

“International honours is a big thing but there's only one place I want to play my football at the minute and that is here.

“They look after me, monitor my fitness and everything. Due to that I've played every minute this season which is some going after what's happened.”

Hogan is, obviously, ambitious and has set his sights on playing Premier League football sooner rather than later and, ideally, with Brentford.

He added: “I want to play Premier League football without a shadow of a doubt. Everybody here wants to do it. If Brentford can get there then brilliant.

“There's a plan in place to get there and to stay there as well. We all want to play Premier League football.

“That's where the headlines are and the glamour of playing big clubs, stadia and games. Everyone wants to play there, with Brentford hopefully.”
